Blists Hill Victorian Town near Ironbridge is a lovely place and Saturday was a lovely day - the sun shone and the sky was clear blue - as you can see in this photo. I couldn't resist snapping this gentleman and his lady enjoying the warm sunshine. If you haven't visited lately, there is a new street full of wonderful shops, including a chippy! I was disappointed that the Ironmongers was closed as my Father's family ran such a business in Llanrwst from the mid 19th century until around the 1930s, but the grocer's, draper's and Medical Hall more than made up for it.

We spent so much time wandering around enjoying the atmosphere and listening to the "inhabitants" that we missed the cafe and gift shop, which were both closed by 4.15 pm!
Oh I have such fond memories of visiting there on a school trip when I was a little girl! I must go back and take my little girl - thanks for sharing such wonderful scrapbook pages. x
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this - I love your blog. I went to the Black Country museum recently and have a blog entry for that similar to yours! If you haven't been I think you would like it. Fancy the shops closing at 4.15! I went to Ironbridge years ago but will go again now you say there are new things.

Hi again Ann - chocolate veal - well I googled it when I got back and apparently people did use to eat veal covered in chocolate! and I thought deep fried mars bars (as seen in chippy in Derby) were modern

Don't mind the deep fried chocolate coated veal, I miss notable pork pies soooo much. Over here in the Emerald Isle we can only get those from Tesco's or Marks and Spencer's - sadly the idea of a home made one from the pork butcher at the end of the street is unheard of...
